Twitter Updater

This plug-in will automatically update your Twitter status with your most recent published articles, which will save valuable time spent in manual updating. You have the option to turn the auto update on/off for the different categories in the admin panel.

Plug-in automatically updates status on Twitter account(s) after you have published an article. No any new steps had to be done when publishing article (you only need to have Twitter Updater properly configured).

Here is an example of status on Twitter updated from Vivvo CMS:

Before you install plugin you must create Twitter Application.

Login to Twitter.com (with your Twitter credentials) and go to http://twitter.com/apps/new. This will bring you to Register an Application form.

Fill in details:

• Application Icon → Choose an icon for you Application, this should be square JPG, GIF or PNG image (logo of your website is a good choice)

• Application Name → Name of your Application/Website that will appear in “via” under your tweets (such as TweetDeck, Seesmic, HTC Peep, and similar).

• Description → Enter description of your website (this is shown to user when he/she is asked to authorize your application)

• Application Website → URL of your website

• Organization → Name of organization running the site (optional field)

• Website → Organization's website (optional field)

• Application Type → Choose Browser

• Callback URL → URL of your website with /plugin-twitter-callback appended to the end (i.e. http://www.example.com/plugin-twitter-callback)

• Default Access type → Choose Read & Write

• Use Twitter for login → do not check (leave unchecked)

• Click Save button

After successful setup you will get to the page with Application Details, like this:

From this page you have to note down Consumer key and Consumer secret strings, these will be used during the installation process of Twitter Updater plugin.

You need to access to the Plug-ins section. Click on the Plug-ins link which is located in the Main menu at the top of your administration panel.

A list of all plug-ins currently registered to the system is displayed on the right hand side of the screen on Downloaded plug-ins tab.

To install Twitter Updater plug-in you need to click on the install icon on the right side of the plug-in name.

This will take you to the page where you will enter required details in order to continue with installation.

Both these keys (Consumer Key and Consumer Secret) you have got after you successfully have created Twitter Application (as described in Creating Twitter Application).

When you are done with this step click on Next button and on this final step you will be informed that the plug-in was successfully installed.

Click Finish to go back to the Plug-ins page.

To uninstall Twitter Updater plug-in you need to click on the uninstall icon on the right side of the plug-in name.

This will take you to the page with the link for uninstall: Click here to Uninstall the plug-in

You will be informed that the plug-in was successfully uninstalled and you may return to the Plug-ins page by clicking the link: Click here to return to Plug-in home page.

The path to the Twitter Updater plug-in:

Click on Plug-ins link (which is located in Main menu at the top of your administrator panel)

Choose Twitter Updater plug-in from the list of all installed plug-ins (on the left side of the screen).

This plug-in can be accessed only by users belonging to groups that are allowed to manage Twitter Updater plug-in.

Accounts

Accounts page lets you manage Twitter Accounts which will be automatically updated.

To add Twitter account click on the Authorize Twitter account button

This will take you to the page on http://www.twitter.com where you will be asked to authorize application:

Click on Allow button and you'll soon be redirected back to your Vivvo Administration panel where you can see that account was added to the list:

To edit an account (assign categories to account) click on the edit button

After you have selected desired categories (use Ctrl + Click to select more than one) for this account click on the Save button.

To delete an account click on the delete button
