Layout

In this section you can select or activate layouts and edit Vivvo themes and individual templates. If you are a license holder with valid support/upgrade package you may also download available graphic resources and widgets directly from our Resources Center without having to leave Layout section (Extend Vivvo plug-in is required to be installed).

To access this section choose Layout from the main administrative menu.

On your left hand side you may choose between Complete themes and template sets, Individual frame layouts and Custom box extensions.

Themes consist of stylesheets (.css files) that control the layout, font styles, colors and positioning. You may choose which style sheets will be used for your website - site wide and also for separate categories.

Templates (.tpl files) determine the ‘look and feel’, as well as the elements and content of your website.

Choose Themes or Template sets from the Layout menu and on the right hand side you'll be offered a list of existing themes/templates on Downloaded tab.

In case you have more than one theme or template registered to the system you may choose to make one active by clicking on Activate icon next to its preview on Downloaded tab. Chosen asset will instantly become active and changes will be visible on your website.

You have the option to enable different themes for different sections/categories of your site. Just choose an option (default or a single category) from the drop-down and then choose Activate icon.

You are also allowed to edit any file by choosing Edit icon next to preview thumbnail.

If you choose to edit a theme, CSS folder with all style sheets will open and you may choose any particular file to edit.

By editing template set you'll be offered to edit each template file separately.

Templates are stored in the /templates folder. They have .tpl extension but they are normal HTML files that can be easily controlled from the Administration area, where you can amend every respective template and save your changes without having to use any third party HTML editor. Alternatively, you can use your favorite editor like Dreamweaver, Front Page or similar and then use FTP program to transfer files to your web server.

Every respective template matches specific action or event. Pages usually consist of several templates (i.e. show_breadcrumbs.tpl, show_all_articles.tpl, show_votes.tpl, etc.). Template set is a package that contains all necessary templates used by Vivvo system.

On Remote tab you'll see a list of available themes/template sets you may download for free with preview thumbnail and short description.

Click on Install icon to have chosen asset automatically downloaded and installed on your system. Chosen item will display on Downloaded tab and you may later activate or edit it. To see more details about an item, choose Details icon and you'll be provided to its page in the Resources Center.

Frame templates are main “carrier” templates holding entire page structure, such as homepage, category page, full article page, etc.

Choose a particular layout and on the right hand side you'll see two tabs - Downloaded and Remote. In the previous chapter these tabs are explained in details.

From Download tab select the most appropriate layout for each component by clicking on Activate icon . Different category and article layouts may be applied to separate categories. Download tab will list layouts that belong to theme that is set as default.

You may also edit any layout the same way you did with Templates and Themes. Click on Edit icon will open chosen layout in a pop-up.

When you are done with editing click Save to apply changes.

Additional frame layouts for instant download are previewed on Remote tab. To download an item and register it to your system click on Install icon next to its preview. Next time you open Layouts section it will be listed on Downloaded tab and it will be possible to activate or edit it. Keep in mind the layout is installed to default theme that is currently active.

Widgets are additional components that extend functionality of your site. These add-ons allow easy addition of different features and elements. With Vivvo widgets you may enhance your site with videos, images, weather or upgrade existing elements like navigation, headlines, search etc.

Choose Widget templates from Layout menu and look at the right hand side of the screen. This is where all available widgets are listed. You'll see a short description on each widget. You may see more information about the widget if you click on Details icon. If you want to use some widget on your Vivvo site click on Install icon. It will be copied to your active default template and to make it visible and functional on your site usually you only need to include it somewhere in your templates.
