Geoposition

This plug-in will allow you to include the Google Maps to your website that is accessible from the frontend when visitor enters http://www.example.com/map in the browser window. During installation you choose the default position and zoom level for front and back end map. You can later position your articles individually and by drag and drop feature when adding/editing an article in the Articles section.

You need to access to the Plug-ins section. Click on the Plug-ins link which is located in the Main menu at the top of your administration panel.

A list of all plug-ins currently registered to the system is displayed on the right hand side of the screen on Downloaded plug-ins tab.

To install Geoposition plug-in you need to click on the install icon on the right side of the plug-in name.

This will take you to the page with the installation link: Click here to Install the plug-in

On this step you need to enter Google Maps API key you can get from this location: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html. Just paste API key then choose Next button to proceed.

Choose the default zoom level on the map and drag the marker to desired place that will became default location for your articles. Click Next to continue.

After you run the installation, you will be informed that the plug-in was successfully installed.

To uninstall Geoposition plug-in you need to click on the uninstall icon on the right side of the plug-in name.

This will take you to the page with the link for uninstall: Click here to Uninstall the plug-in

You will be informed that the plug-in was successfully uninstalled and you may return to the Plug-ins page by clicking the link: Click here to return to Plug-in home page

The path to the Geoposition plug-in:

Click on the Articles link (which is located in Main menu at the top of your administrator panel).

Choose Geoposition tab when adding/editing an article.

This plug-in can be accessed only by users belonging to groups that are allowed to manage Geoposition plug-in.

Go to your Administration → Articles and choose to add or edit an article. On the 'Geo Position' tab drag the marker to the desired position for that article or even enter latitude and longitude coordinates of the location.

Click on the 'Publish' button to apply changes.

Your visitors can access the map by entering the following link: http://www.example.com/map. The map will be displayed with blue markers that mark the spots articles are assigned to. When someone clicks on any particular marker, the abstract text of corresponding article will show up in the cloud, then he/she can click on Full story link to go to the article page and read the whole article.
