====== Pages ====== ===== Description ===== Static content is not simply a static html page. Static pages are also served from the database whenever anyone loads the page but they are optimized for those contents/pages that are rarely updated. Some examples of these pages on your site may include Copyright, Legal Information, Reprint Permissions, Contact Information, About Me, About Site, Accessibility Statement, among other. ===== How to Install? ===== You need to access the Plug-ins section. Click on the Plug-ins link which is located in the little menu on the right side at the top of your administrator panel. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:pages_plugins_navigation.jpg|Admin menu}} A list of all plug-ins currently registered to the system is displayed on the right hand side of the screen on **Downloaded plug-ins** tab. To install Page plug-in you need to click on the install icon on the right side of the plug-ins name. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:pages_install.jpg|Pages install}} This will take you to the page with the installation link: Click here to Install the plug-in. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:pages_install_step_1.jpg|Pages install step 1}} After you run the installation, you will be informed that the plug-in was successfully installed. Choose Pages plug-in from the list of all installed plug-ins (on the left side of the screen). ===== User level ===== This plug-in can be accessed only by users belonging to groups that are allowed to manage Pages plug-in. ===== Actions ===== ==== How to create new static page? ==== When you access Pages plug-in you'll see a list of created pages on the left hand side and new page generator on the right. In the Title field enter a page name (for example "About the Company"). This name will display on navigation as a link that leads to a page content so the name should describe in short content of this page. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:page-title.jpg|Page title}} From the Custom layout dropdown menu choose some of existing web page layouts. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:custom-layout.jpg|Custom layout}} Enter your webpage URL. The page will be accessible via this URL, for example %%http://www.example.com/about.html%%. {{:user_manual:plugin_manual:webpage-url.jpg|Webpage URL}} In the WYSIWYG editor type or copy and paste the content you wish to publish. Click **Save** button on the bottom right to save your work. To preview your work go to View live site. Your static pages will appear at the top of the page as a secondary menu right above the main navigation menu as you may see in our example. {{:user_manual:plugin-manual:pages_frontend_menu.jpg|Pages navigation}} ==== Edit page ==== To edit a page, simply select the page you want to change from the left hand side navigation menu, click on edit icon {{:user_manual:plugin-manual:pages_edit.jpg|Edit page}} next to its name and your page will load in the page editor. Make the necessary changes and then save your work by selecting **Save** button. ==== Delete page ==== To delete your page simply click on delete icon {{:user_manual:plugin-manual:pages_delete.jpg|Delete page}} on the left menu next to page you would like to remove. You may also delete a page when editing if you click **Delete** link.
